The Gigging Musician Needs......
|
|
A Korg Tuner and a Harpgear Pickup.
Plug the Harpgear Pick-up into the Korg CA-40 input socket,
then place the pick-up onto your harp. Background interference is eliminated because the tuner will now respond only to your instrument.
The Korg CA-40 has a larger screen than it's predecessor (CA-30). The screen is supplemented by 3 bright LEDs to aid perfect tuning. Auto power off to save batteries. Battery life approx 85 hours continuous use. Calibration setting is retained in memory. Click on the above product link for full details.

A Harpgear Giglight
We have tested and rejected many portable music stand lights over the last 14 years * .......until now.
For its compactness, light output, battery life, and price, this light is a winner. No bulbs to replace. LED's (Light Emitting Diodes) are extremely energy efficient, and last.......not forever, but for up to 50,000 hours. That's equivalent to running continuously for about 5 years !
The Harpgear Giglight is a purpose-built music stand light. Its single, intensely bright LED emits full spectrum, white light, for up to 8 hours on 4 AA alkaline batteries (supplied) or up to 6 hours on rechargeables (not supplied). It's so bright it only needs the one LED - enough to light up a full score. Its spring clip (which also houses the batteries) attaches to your music stand. The LED cowl unfolds and can be adjusted to a suitable working position, without 'spilling' much light where it isn't needed. When not in use it folds up into a compact pouch (supplied).
Weight: with batteries & pouch- 220gm or approx. 8 oz. Dimensions: Pouched-170mm X 70mm X 40mm or approx 6.5" X 3" X 1.5"
* Lights with filament bulbs (usually 3 volt) offer feeble light - little more than a candle. Brighter filaments quickly run down your batteries, unless the bulb burns out first. We have tested a widely available LED light with a double gooseneck. It emits light with an undesirable blue cast. Though its name suggests a 'really bright' light, we guess it is 60% as bright as the Harpgear Giglight. The single gooseneck version is completely inadequate for music. Both are best described as cheap book reading lights. This same brand offers another light with telescopic arm and 3 LEDs. It emits a nice, slightly yellow light, but again only 60% the brightness of the Harpgear Giglight's single LED. Finally, we have tried an excellent 8 LED light made in the USA. It too emits a slightly blue cast. It roughly equals the light output of the Harpgear Giglight, but is much bigger, heavier, and more expensive.
Nov 2008 - The recent Giglight price rise is partly due to higher manufacturing costs but mostly due to the £UK losing 25% against the $US.
